OLMSTED TOWNSHIP, Ohio– Police in Olmsted Township released the identity of a body found in a pond back on April 17, during a news conference Monday afternoon.

The body of Carl Edward Acoff, Jr., 20, was discovered badly decomposed with multiple stab wounds.

“He ain’t deserve to die like this. They didn’t have to do him like this,” said Nicole Cantie, Acoff’s first cousin.

Speaking from her Cleveland Heights home, Cantie said the last time anyone saw or heard from the 20-year-old was just after the New Year.  They then went to Cleveland police to file a missing persons report.

Cantie said, “He usually keeps in contact with the family. Mainly, one of the contacts is with my daughter and she hadn’t heard from him.”

Two days after his body was recovered, police detectives in Cleveland contacted Olmsted Township police to say they had a missing person matching the physical description of the victim.

“The missing person was reported missing from Cleveland on March 27th. Cleveland police notified the missing person family and requested them to provide DNA to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office,” said Olmsted Township Police Chief John Minek.

Acoff was no stranger to police, arrested in the past for assault, inducing panic and disrupting public service.  And neighbors said it was no secret Acoff was a cross dresser.  When his body was found, he was wearing three black bras, a Betty Boop tank top and was nude from the waist down.

Neighbor George Williams said, “He had like a feminine sway about him, but I never really talked to him, you know, outside ‘hey how you doing.'”

“You can’t judge nobody by what they’re wearing or none of that so what, he dressed like a girl, whatever,” said Cantie.

The family also has a message for Acoff’s killer, “What you did was wrong, and you will be held accountable.”

Olmsted Township police are still searching for his killer.
