LAKESIDE, Ohio– Most people would describe the small town as quiet and safe. But, for Phil Wolf and his family, this summer hasn’t been so serene.

"There are people who don't like animals,” said Wolf, as he recalled Memorial Day.

He had gone outside to look for his cats, Mini and Black Tail. That’s when he saw a disturbing scene. Both of his cats were lying there dead. He knew something was suspicious right away.

"We were so upset by it. We couldn't find any poison or anything around here, so we had them sent away. We found out they were poisoned,” said Wolf.

He said his cats aren’t the first to get poisoned in Lakeside. He said other outdoor cats have fallen victim too.

"I don't know who it is. But, they wanted those cats killed,” he said.

The family is now offering a $3,000 reward. They’re hoping it will encourage someone to come forward with information about what happened.

Danbury Police are also investigating. So far, they don’t have any leads.

As for Wolf, he just wants answers. He said Mini and Black Tail were a part of the family, and didn’t deserve to die the way they did. He said none of the cats did.

"Even though they live outdoors, they are companions to a lot of people,” he said.
