Facebook is all about ‘friending’ people, but a new prank has some people ‘killing off’ their friends.

It’s called the Facebook death prank, a bizarre trend using Facebook’s memorialization request form. People fill it out to convince the popular social networking site that someone is dead.

One man told ABC News he was locked out of his account, which had been turned into a memorial page, because someone had reported the Maine man as deceased to Facebook.

Facebook told ABC News the memorialization process is in place for grieving families and friends.

They say there is an appeals process when a mistake is made.
