One of the world's most famous couples is calling it quits.

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from husband Brad Pitt, a source familiar with the filing confirmed to CNN.

TMZ reports Jolie, who cited irreconcilable differences, filed the legal documents on Monday.

Sources told TMZ, Jolie's decision was based on Pitt's consumption of weed mixed with "an anger problem," which she reportedly felt was dangerous for the children.

In a statement to PEOPLE, Pitt said:

"I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."

The actress is reportedly asking for custody of their six children, with Pitt getting visitation.

Jolie and Pitt have been together since 2004; they married in 2014.
