LOS ANGELES, CA - Iconic TV dad Alan Thicke has died at the age of 69.

Actor Alan Thicke died at the age of 69. Thicke was known for his role as Jason Seaver, on ABC television series "Growing Pains". He is also the father of singer Robin Thicke.

According to reports,Thicke was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter when he had a heart attack.

His agent confirmed the death to CNN: "Today the world lost an amazing talent," said Tracy Mapes with Imperium 7 Talent Agency. She did not provide details regarding the cause of death.

Carleen Donovan, who is a publicist for Thicke's son, singer Robin Thicke, says the actor died from a heart attack on Tuesday in Los Angeles. She also had no further details.

He was taken to a Burbank, California hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that a company that recovers organs was contacted so that Thicke could be a donor.

Thicke was born in Canada and was best known for his role as Dr. Jason Seaver, the dad on the 1980's sitcom "Growing Pains" which aired from 1985 until 1992. He was currently appearing on the Netflix series "Fuller House," which the actor tweeted about earlier in the day:

 

The Canadian-born actor had a prolific career, including cameos in recent years on the comedy "How I Met Your Mother" and "This is Us." He was also a frequent pitchman for ads on Sirius.

He is survived by his three sons, Robin, Brennan and Carter and his wife, Tanya.
