The website reports that’s the reason the singer, 49, needs surgery and had to postpone her “Unbreakable” tour.
She announced the cancellation on her Facebook page on Christmas Eve.
“I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,” Jackson said. “It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring.”
The 2016 leg of the tour was scheduled to start in Denver on January 9 and continue until the end of June. Jackson was set to perform at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Feb. 2.
According to RadarOnline.com, doctors “found a growth on Janet’s vocal cords that could be serious.” Their source says it’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of right away.
Dr. Stuart Fischer, who is not treating Jackson, told the website, “God forbid that this should be cancer of the larynx. That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again.”
Dr. Fischer said treatment for a cancerous growth on Jackson’s throat would need to be extremely aggressive and would likely include radiation treatment.
Jackson appears to be putting on a brave face during her medical scare.
“Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time,” Jackson said in a statement to her fans. “I love you all so much and am ever grateful for your understanding and your love. Gon’ b alright.”
