LeVar Burton raising funds for ‘Reading Rainbow’ rebirth

It started urging children back in the 1980s to “take a look, it’s in a book.”

It aired through 2006, and the reruns kept kids entertained through 2009.

Now, “Reading Rainbow” could be coming back to life.

The show’s host and producer, LeVar Burton, wants to bring back the educational show, this time online.

He’s started a Kickstarter campaign to raise $1 million to create the web show, along with give more than 1,500 classrooms access.

As of Wednesday, more than $150,000 had been donated toward the cause, and the number was growing.
