TV sets across America were tuned in to the big finale of “American Idol” Thursday night.
After 15 seasons, the show said farewell.
Trent Harmon was crowned the “American Idol.”
But let’s be honest. Most people tuned in to see Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and other past winners and contestants who helped make the show a ratings juggernaut.
Here are some of the top performances from Thursday’s 2-hour finale:
The first American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, had to record a medley of her greatest hits as she is about to give birth to her second child. She ended with a beautiful acapella version of “A Moment Like This.”
Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood, performed “Something in the Water.”
Judge Jennifer Lopez wowed the crowd with the debut of her new single “I Ain’t Your Mama” and a performance of “Let’s Get Loud.”
“The Three Divas:” Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia Barrino, and LaToya London performed “Bridge Over Troubled Water” and “Remember the Music.”
Past contestants Katherine McPhee, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, and others performed an acoustic medley.
Carrie Underwood returned with judge Keith Urban to perform “Stop Dragging My Heart Around.”
And perhaps the most memorable Idol reject, William Hung, returned to sing “She Bangs.”
