CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A huge night for Cleveland movie lovers for the much-anticipated midnight Friday premiere of the movie "The Avengers." Many of the scenes were shot in Cleveland last summer.

"I was first in line ... it's crazy," said Alexander Grgat, of Brecksville.

"Bought the six tickets for tonight, got the glasses; I've been waiting since they were filming in Cleveland last year," said moviegoer Steven Howard.

"I figured since it was filmed here in Cleveland, I'd help support it," said Rob Bair.

The Avengers is a movie that comic book lovers and superhero fans have been waiting to see for a long time.

Some die-hard fans spent all day Thursday at the Cinemark Theaters in Valley View either waiting in line or watching a marathon of superhero movies leading up to the big event.

"Hulk and Captain America and Thor, you got 'em all in there, so it's gonna be a blast just to see them all together," said James Harbour.

Of course, the Avengers movie is extra special in Northeast Ohio because a lot of it was filmed in downtown Cleveland last summer.

"I'm a die-hard fan. I watched every one. It's a plus; I think it'll bring a lot of people that didn't even watch the series to actually come down and see it just because it's in Cleveland," said Howard.

Because it was filmed in Cleveland, a lot of the extras in the movie are from Cleveland, including Heather Holt, who showed up with her family for a VIP reception before the premiere.

"I was in the big scene with all the explosions, and they had all the buses being blown up, all the way down Central Street, and we got to run and be scared," said Holt.

Troy Harris said he first tried out as an extra, but got much more.

"He gave me an actual speaking role in the movie, so hopefully, it's still in that movie, and it hasn't got cut, so I'm really pumped to see it," Harris said.
