ELYRIA, Ohio-- Two local attorneys admitted they were drinking together at the Train Station bar on East River Street in Elyria on June 9, police say. But investigators say what 42-year-old Kenneth Lewis and 26-year-old Heather Wilsey told them happened after they left the bar is in dispute.

Police were called at about 1:15 a.m. after witnesses reported a car crashed into a utility pole. When Elyria officers arrived, they found the car was disabled, and spotted Lewis and Wilsey walking nearby. When questions, they told officers they had too much to drink at the bar and a man had volunteered to drive them home.

"And they claim that when they were in the area of 4th Street and East Avenue, that the black male subject lost control of the car, struck a utility pole, and then fled from the scene on foot,"  Cpt. Chris Costantino said.

Police decided to check surveillance cameras outside the bar. They found Lewis got into the passenger's seat while Wilsey was in the driver's seat. There was never a third person involved.

The two attorneys are now charged with obstructing official business.

"They were charged with obstructing because quite frankly they weren't truthful with police officers. They made up this fictitious account that this black male subject was driving and that he had fled when it's pretty evident that that wasn't true," Costantino said.

"I just look at factual things. I look at the fact that it was a person who wasn't there, it caused our officers more work and I wish they had been truthful at the start."

Wilsey agreed to speak with FOX 8 News at first, but didn't call back at the appointed time. Lewis said he could not speak with us without consulting with his attorney.
