ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) – Elyria police released new details on what they say is an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend.

Bernadette A. Steadman, 92; Lisa B. Steadman, 60; and Matthew J. Steadman, 34, were found dead in a home in the 200 block of Kenny Brook Lane, according to police.

Police say the suspect James C. Steadman, 69, was also found dead in the home.

According to officers, a man called 911 on Saturday and told police he killed his family and was going to kill himself.

When they arrived at the scene at around 11:45 p.m., the home was locked and there was no answer from within. That’s when they forced entry and found the four people dead inside, police say.

Officials say the individuals are all related.

The Elyria Police Department and Lorain County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate this incident.
