EASTLAKE, Ohio — The badly decomposed body of a man found Friday morning in Eastlake was confirmed to be that of shooting suspect Joshua Baughman, Eastlake Police Chief Larry Reik confirmed.

The remains were discovered around 7 a.m. near the railroad tracks on East 365th Street.

Police responded there after a resident reported a foul odor.

The body appeared to have been there for a number of days, Reik said.

Baughman, 20, is accused of shooting a 27-year-old Cleveland man in the parking lot of an Eastlake WalMart last month.

Police said Baughman jumped in the man’s car and demanded that he hand over “everything he had.”

He then allegedly shot the man in the side of the chest and fled the scene.

The Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office will determine the official cause of death.
