MUNSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio- A driver has been charged in the Munson Township crash that injured three firefighters.

It happened on Wilson Mills Road on March 5 while a fire truck was on its way to a house fire.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said two cars were going eastbound when the first driver noticed the fire truck coming from the opposite direction. That driver slowed to pull over, but the second driver, identified as 34-year-old Sanja Medved, did not. Medved veered left of center and hit the Munson Township fire truck head on.

Medved, who was injured in the crash, was charged with assured clear distance, troopers said.

Two of the firefighters suffered minor injuries, while the driver of the truck, 47-year-old Mike Bennett, of Chardon, was taken to Hillcrest Hospital in critical condition.
