Driver charged after three die in Cleveland car crash

CLEVELAND – A 20-year-old Cleveland man is being charged with three counts of aggravated vehicular homicide after an early morning accident on Cleveland’s east side.

Cleveland police tell Fox 8 that Kareem Walton was driving his car “well in excess of the posted speed limit of 25 mph” on Kirby Avenue. He lost control of the car and spun off the side of the road, hitting a large tree. The car spun again, ejecting four passengers into the roadway.

Three of those ejected were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Walton suffered what the police called soft tissue injures. Two others were taken to the hospital with severe head trauma. In addition to the aggravated vehicular homicide, Walton is being charged with two counts of aggravated assault.Results from an OVI test are also pending.

The passengers in the car ranged in age from 16 to 22-years-old.  They have not been identified as of yet.
