MILTON TWP., Ohio — A driver from Rittman, Ohio was killed on Sunday when a commercial vehicle hit his car as he attempted to make a u-turn.
The accident happened in Milton Twp., Wayne County, around 5:45 p.m.
At the time of this report the driver’s family had not been notified so his identity was not released.
According to the Wayne County State Highway Patrol, the driver was headed northeast on State Route 585 near the intersection of Benner Road in Milton Twp.
The driver made a right turn onto Benner Road, then made an immediate u-turn and attempted to cross SR 585.
A commercial vehicle traveling behind the car hit the driver’s door.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Two passengers in the car were hurt and taken to Akron General Hospital.
They were listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was not hurt.
At the time of the accident the roads were wet but the Highway Patrol said weather did not appear to be a factor.
Investigators said the driver of the commercial vehicle did not show signs of drug or alcohol use but he will undergo standard testing.
