CLEVELAND-- Dr. Ben Carson spoke about GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's poll numbers while at the Republican National Convention's media row on Monday.

"Understand what's at stake. This is not a normal election," Carson said. "It's not about whether you like somebody or if you're irritating about something somebody said."

Carson was specifically asked about Trump's low ratings with African-American voters. Polls show 0 percent of those voters are in favor of the presumptive Republican nominee in key swing states like Ohio and Pennsylvania.

"Of course you're going to get those kind of polls, particularly if the polling is done in a public way because no one is going to say, 'I'm for Trump," even if they are because then they'll be ostracized," Carson said.

Carson said Trump will gain ground when he starts addressing issues like education and the criminal justice system.
