CLEVELAND  – The Indians are just one win away from playing in the World Series.

“They’re going to win and bring home the championship to Cleveland just like the Cavs,” said James Whitehead. “We are ready and waiting for a parade.”

The Indians’ impressive performance is bringing in big business to the city, as fan rush to book hotels near Progressive Field.

“Book soon, book quick, or else you’re going to be out in the suburbs commuting in,” said Bill Reed, the general manager of Aloft Cleveland Downtown.

Aloft in Cleveland is an official partner with the Indians. According to Hotel and Leisure Advisors, of the 18 hotels downtown, nine are booked for a number of days next week. Reed warns that guests should expect to dig deep into their pockets to stay downtown. Hotel room prices have increased at least 40 percent more than normal.

“Rooms are in the two-hundred to five-hundred-dollar land, which is a little north of what you would see on a typical Tuesday night in Cleveland,” said Laurel Keller, the vice president of Hotel and Leisure Advisors.

Next Tuesday could be anything but a typical night for the city.

“Game one of the World Series is on opening night of the Cleveland Cavaliers with a ring ceremony,” said Reed. “Next week is going to be RNCish in Cleveland again.”

Destination Cleveland says they’ve started planning how they will market the city to potential fans in town next week.

“Not only are they coming here for the games but they get to explore and hopefully come back,” said Jennifer Kramer with Destination Cleveland. “Go grab food at the West Side market and get a taste of what Cleveland offers.”

“A lot of these people I’m going to assume as with the Republican National Convention haven’t been to Cleveland all that often –  haven’t been here in a while,” said Keller. “So hopefully we’ll put on our best face and treat them well and they will want to come back.”
