CLEVELAND– Many traffic restrictions for the Republican National Convention in downtown Cleveland will begin this weekend.
Roads around Quicken Loans Arena and Progressive Field closed at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and won’t reopen until 6 a.m. on July 23. Streets by the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland closed at 11 p.m. Saturday.
East 9th Street will be northbound only from Prospect Avenue to the Shoreway, while the southbound lanes will be closed to traffic from St. Clair Avenue to Prospect Avenue. It is closed to all traffic from Prospect Avenue to Orange Avenue. East and westbound traffic will be allowed to cross East 9th at Superior, Vincent and Euclid. Those restrictions start at 11 p.m. Saturday.
