LANSING, Mich. — Three counties in Michigan will begin drug testing residents on welfare.

According to MyFox Detroit, it’s part of a one-year trial period after Gov. Rick Snyder signed the legislation.

Anyone suspected of using drugs will first be offered treatment, and those who refuse it will lose their benefits for six months.

Anyone who tests positive will go through drug treatment. If they then test negative, they will get their welfare benefits back.
