Some of the country’s cash-strapped school districts are looking for new ways to save money.

According to WJLA, public school students in Ashburn, Va., may soon have to pay to ride the bus. The district’s school board said it’s possible that students could use a debit card to ride their bus, rather than receive free busing through the district.

In Indiana, the Franklin Township Schools stopped running its buses and contracted with a transportation company, which charged students to ride, according to the Indianapolis Star.

That case is headed to the Indiana Supreme Court, which will decide if that is constitutional.
