NEW YORK -- Some in New York are calling for metal detectors to be removed from the city's school districts.

PIX11 reports that there has not been a shooting inside any New York City school in the past 13 years.

Some parents and advocates say the metal detectors in those schools are unnecessary because of the low crime rates, and condemn them as discriminatory.

Others, however, say that taking the scanners out will leave students unsafe.
