LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — A dog is recovering after being found with a gunshot wound and dragging a trap on his left foot.

The dog, who was named Chance, is a Golden Retriever and was brought to the Lorain County Animal Emergency Center by the dog warden this past weekend, according to the center’s Facebook page.

Chance was found by a Good Samaritan in the Sheffield/Lorain area. X-rays show he was shot in the left rear leg, and it will have to be amputated. His left front leg that was stuck in the trap was also damaged, but so far only one toe has had to be amputated.

The center says Chance is “far from out of the woods.” But he has been the “perfect patient” and despite his pain has been friendly and sweet.

Chance is estimated to be between two and three years of age.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with Chance’s expenses. For more, click here.
