PARMA, Ohio– Authorities in Parma are investigating after a small dog was found dead behind a shopping plaza.

It was discovered Monday morning behind the TJ Maxx on West Pleasant Valley Road, Jeannie Roberts with Parma City Hall said.

It appears the animal was shot and skinned, Roberts said. The remains were taken to a local veterinary office for examination.

At first, Parma animal control officers believed it was a coyote, but later determined it was a small dog.
