CLEVELAND, Ohio — An anesthesiologist accused of trying to kill his son-in-law with a pry bar pleaded guilty in court Wednesday.
Dr. Georges J. Bensimhon, 67, of Allentown, Pa., entered a plea of not guilty to a single count of felonious assault.
According to prosecutors, Bensimhon attacked his daughter’s ex-husband in Cleveland Heights last summer. He was wearing a mask and attacked him with a pry bar just before 6 a.m. on Sept. 4, said prosecutors.
The 39-year-old victim was bleeding profusely, but was able to subdue Bensimhon in the driveway outside his home. Neighbors summoned police, said prosecutors.
When police arrested Bensimhon, they found a cache of injectable sedatives and syringes on him.
Bensimhon will be sentenced July 1. He faces up to eight years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
