CLEVELAND (WJW) — The man whose body was recovered from Lake Erie Thursday afternoon has been identified as 33-year-old Adam Harry of Lakewood.

Cleveland-area officials confirmed Harry’s body was recovered from Lake Erie on Thursday afternoon.

Harry’s body was found in ice at the bottom of a 30-foot slope near the Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront Reservation, according to information from the Coast Guard.

A good Samaritan believed to be on a boat reported the body to Cleveland dispatchers at about 12:30 p.m., U.S. Coast Guard public affairs officer Lt. William Kelley confirmed.

Responders staged at the park at 8701 Lakeshore Blvd., since the area was inaccessible by foot, according to reports.

Cleveland Fire Department took over the scene and used its boat to retrieve the body, since the Coast Guard does not assist in the recovery of decedents.

Harry’s body was recovered by about 4 p.m. that day, and taken to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office for identification. according to a Cleveland Metroparks spokesperson. The man’s cause of death has not yet been released.

Officers from Cleveland Metroparks and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources assisted on-scene.

FOX 8 has reached out to Cleveland fire officials for more information, but has not received a response.
