6 firefighters hospitalized after fighting barn blaze at Wayne County farm

WOOSTER, Ohio —  Six firefighters were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out a chicken farm in Wayne County Friday afternoon.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff, firefighters from Wayne and Ashland counties responded to a four alarm blaze at Case Farms on West Smithville Western Road in Wooster.

Officials say six firefighters were transported to the hospital for heat exhaustion.  Their conditions are currently unknown.

No chickens were injured in the fire, however the barn was completely destroyed.

Case Farms is expecting a chicken shipment to come in on Tuesday but now has no where to put the birds.

The barn was less than a year and a half old.
