PAINESVILLE, Ohio -- Three Perry teenagers who played “ding-dong-ditch” in Lake County chose a creative sentence over jail time.
According to the Painsville Municipal Court, the trio would bang on neighbors’ doors then hide.
They were eventually caught when someone set up a camera and were ultimately found guilty of criminal mischief.
Later this month they will serve their sentence by becoming part of the “Green Man Group” during Painesville’s Party-in-the-Park.
The experience will be similar to their offense, since they will “bang” on drums while “hiding” in their costumes.
They’ll also be responsible for trash pickup during the event and will promote eco-friendly practices.
The sentence, which was handed down by Judge Mike Cicconetti, includes an element of competition.
When trash collection vehicles arrive, the young men must race. Whoever arrives at the truck last the most number of times will be required to perform eight extra hours of community service.
Party-in-the-Park takes place July 19-21.
