UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio– Police in University Heights are cracking down on people using their cellphones while driving.
The city’s new ordinance states no one can use a cellphone to talk or text behind the wheel.
A driver is allowed to use a voice-operated or hands-free device.
For a first offense, a person will be fined $100; a second offense $250; any others after that will be fined $500.
People in violation will start being cited on July 15.
