CLEVELAND- Twenty-two. That’s the number of Cleveland Browns starting quarterbacks since 1999. That’s also the number of names on a jersey at the Brokaw agency downtown.
The jersey originally bared the name of the first overall pick in the 1999 NFL Draft Tim Couch. This season, Johnny Manziel and Connor Shaw were added to the list.
But now, the future of the infamous jersey is as uncertain as who will be under center for the team next season. Brokaw said it thinks the jersey could be cursed and is asking fans what to do with it.
“We hear you loud and clear Browns Nation. You’re tired of seeing this updated jersey. So are we. Especially after every other team in the AFC North made the playoffs,” the business posted on its Facebook page.
Fans can vote on Facebook to keep the jersey until the Browns make the playoffs, auction it off for charity or burn it. (Place your vote here)
Manziel and quarterback Brian Hoyer spoke to the media on Monday. Hoyer said he would love to return next year, but needs some time off before thinking about free agency.
