WESTLAKE, Ohio -- Just two days after a stolen truck crashed into a Westlake bar, people are stepping up to help one of the victims who was badly injured.

"I imagine she was just behind the bar, pouring a beer and then the truck came crashing through," said Jessie Bennett-Santiago, who is a close friend of victim Kelly Deutschendorf. "She's just the kindest person I have ever met, for sure."

Deutschendorf is a young bartender who was in the bar Thursday night when the truck came crashing through the Detroit Road bar.

It was the scary end of a high-speed chase between a suspect and police.

"Just sad, and shocked, that this happened," said Bennett-Santiago.

Kelly was just one of several people hurt at Dover Gardens Tavern Thursday; the bar is still boarded up after the damage there.

"All the 13 people that were injured, my heart just goes out to each and every one of them," said Bennett-Santiago.

The bartender's foot and hip injuries are serious. Bennett-Santiago tells Fox 8 she wanted to help in any way possible, so she created a GoFundMe account to raise money for Deutschendorf's medical expenses. The goal is to raise $10,000.

"It just really restores your faith in humanity and our community here," said Bennett-Santiago.

Deutschendorf is recovering from her injuries at Fairview General.
