CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The funeral procession route has been released for former mayor, Ohio governor and U.S. senator, George Voinovich.

The 79-year-old passed away Sunday at his Collinwood home.

He will be laid to rest on Friday. Burial services are for family and close friends. But the community is welcome to line the streets to pay respects and honor Voinovich as the funeral procession passes.

The procession will tentatively begin between 11:45 a.m. and noon and move from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Euclid to All Souls Cemetery. It should arrive at All Souls Cemetery at around 12:45 p.m.

After the mass, the funeral will follow Lakeshore Boulevard East to 260th Street, which becomes Richmond Road. It will then head south to Chardon Road/Route 6, heading east to All Souls Cemetery.

Hundreds gathered for calling hours in Willoughby Hills Wednesday. Voinovich will be Lying in State in the Cleveland City Hall Rotunda today. Viewing will be open to the public from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.  At 2 p.m., the viewing will end and a program to honor Voinovich will begin.

Many remember Voinovich as a true public servant, focused on making Cleveland and the entire state of Ohio a better place.

He had delivered public remarks Friday at a 25th Slovenian Independence Day event at Cleveland City Hall. The City of Cleveland shared video of that with us. You can watch it above.
