CLEVELAND -- Friends and family came out to honor slain Officer Jonathan A.J. Schroeder with an annual 5K run in his name Saturday afternoon.

The Cleveland police officer died six years ago while on duty.

The race began at St. Joseph Academy and ended at Our Lady of Angels in West Park.   Each year, the run draws more than 300 participants and hundreds more spectators. After the race, organizers held a pasta dinner and live auction.

Proceeds from the run go to support the Jonathan A.J. Schroeder Scholarship fund, which provides several full tuition scholarships to students each year. On average, the run has raised about $20,000 each year for the fund.
