CLEVELAND — A man accused of raping and murdering women on Cleveland’s near west side over a period of two decades was arraigned Monday.

An attorney representing Elias Acevedo, 49, entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and asked for a “reasonable” bond.

Prosecutors requested bond be set at $1 million for each of his five alleged rape victims.

The judge complied, setting bond at $5 million.

On Thursday, investigators announced a 293-count indictment against Acevedo.

He’s charged with murdering Christina Adkins, who disappeared in 1995 at age 18 and five months pregnant. Her remains were positively identified on Friday.

Acevedo is also charged with the 1994 murder of 30-year-old Pamela Pemberton, who was a neighbor of his.
