Days after Tweeting offensive remarks during the Super Bowl, CNN has suspended political commentator Roland Martin.

According to a Washington Post report, on Super Bowl Sunday Martin Tweeted a thought regarding a underwear commercial starring David Beckham.

Roland Tweeted, “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish [sic] out of him”.

In another Tweet, according to the Washington Post report, Roland wrote, “Who the hell was that New England Patriot they just showed in a head to toe pink suit? Oh, he neds a visit from #teamwhipdat[expletive]”.

CNN issued the following statement today on Roland’s suspension, according to the Washington Post report.

“Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive. Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated. We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being.”

Several gay rights groups have accused Roland of promoting violence against homosexuals in his Tweets, including GLAAD.

“CNN today took a strong stand against anti-LGBT violence and language that demeans any community,” GLAAD spokesman Rich Ferraro said in the Washington Post report.
