CLEVELAND- The FOX 8 I-TEAM has learned Cleveland Police Union President Steve Loomis has been hit with a 6-day suspension.
A disciplinary notice from the chief’s office says it is for “improper conduct. An internal charge for “physical confrontation” was dismissed.
This relates back to a confrontation off duty at the union hall between Loomis and another officer, a man who shares a child with one of Loomis’s adult daughters.
Loomis said in a statement, “This is an off duty family matter. Out of respect for my daughter and granddaughter I will have no comment regarding the incident between my granddaughters father and myself which led to this discipline. The appropriate appeals have been filed.”
We have requested more documentation from the investigation, but our request was sent to the Cleveland Law Department, a process which often can take weeks and even months.
We recently reported the chief’s office was also investigating Steve Loomis for wearing a uniform to a rally for Donald Trump. No discipline has been issued for that at this time.
