CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland police are looking for a driver in a hit and run.

The victim is a 5-year-old boy. The child’s father told FOX 8 News he was walking with his son in the crosswalk when a car hit the boy.

It happened Monday around 8:45 a.m. at East 55th street and Chester Avenue.

Evelyn Bailey was on her way to work when she said she witnessed what happened and stopped to help.

“I just saw the little boy in the air like a rag doll and he flipped three times and then he dropped on the car,” she said.

Bailey said the driver, who she estimated was in his twenties, stopped at first but then drove away before police arrived.

“He appeared very shocked and scared,” Bailey said. “I understand that he was afraid and he was scared. We all were. But I just want to make sure that he does the right thing and that we find him.”

Another witness said she reported the driver’s license plate number to police.

The suspect vehicle is a white Nissan with damage to the driver's side mirror.

The child is being treated at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

We're told his injuries are minor.
