Shots fired during Homeland Security investigation into human trafficking in Cleveland

CLEVELAND– Shots were exchanged during a human trafficking investigation on Cleveland’s east side.

It happened Wednesday morning on Dove Avenue near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive Wednesday morning, according to the Cleveland Division of Police.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Homeland Security special agents were executing a search warrant connected to human trafficking when a suspect fired shots. Agents returned fired. No one was injured.

Two suspects were arrested, an ICE spokesman said.

Homeland Security is assisting the Ohio Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force and the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office in an ongoing investigation.

Cleveland police are lead agency investigating the shooting.
