Cleveland police respond to report of pipe bomb, car with weapons at VA Medical Center

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland police are investigating an incident at the Cleveland VA Medical Center.

According to police, the bomb squad responded around 8:45 p.m. Monday to the VA parking lot.

Police say there was a vehicle with several weapons and an alleged pipe bomb inside it.

According to police, the bomb squad and K-9 responded.

The weapons were confiscated and the device was secured, police say.

The VA released the following statement to FOX 8 Tuesday afternoon:

“The Cleveland VA Medical Center takes the safety and security of our patients and employees very seriously. In this instance, when alerted about suspicious activity, we acted quickly with the Cleveland Police Department to investigate and resolve the situation. “
