CLEVELAND– A Cleveland police officer was indicted on charges of obstructing justice.

He’s accused of tipping off a grocer that food stamp fraud investigators were about to serve a search warrant, according to Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty.

Officials said Det. John Hall, 49, turned himself in Thursday afternoon.

Hall, assigned to the city’s fourth police district, is a 19-year police veteran.

Besides obstructing justice, Hall is also charged with tampering with evidence, intimidation of a witness and bribery.

Prosecutor McGinty said the indictment followed a two-year investigation.

Hall was suspended without pay.
