CLEVELAND –  Cleveland police are investigating the case of a Saudi Arabian man who says he was kidnapped, robbed and then dumped in a parking lot.

The man was found April 12th in a parking lot on Garden Valley with a wound to his head. After getting him to the hospital, they learned that the victim was from Saudi Arabia and discovered that he was staying in a downtown hotel.

They made contact with the man’s daughter at the hotel.  She told them that her father had left the hotel earlier in the evening with two men, and that he had been drinking . She tried to get him to stay, but couldn’t.  She did convince him to leave $5,000 in cash at the hotel, though.

It turned out that the man had met the two men and two females at a bar earlier in the night. He returned to the hotel to clean up before heading out with them again.

Shortly after leaving, the suspects “took him far away,” beat him and robbed him of cash, his cell phone and his jacket. This was later confirmed by police when they were able to see surveillance video from the parking lot. The suspects’ vehicle, a white Pontiac Aztec, was also clearly seen on the video.

The victim was scheduled to leave Cleveland the next day to stay with his daughter in Maryland.

Fourth district detectives are investigating for follow-up.
