CLEVELAND– FOX 8 is learning new information about the murder of a woman on Cleveland’s west side on Saturday.

Earlier on Monday, police filed a murder warrant for the arrest of the victim’s son, Burley Blankenship.

On Monday afternoon the Hamilton County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Fox 8 that Blankenship was taken into custody on Sunday morning.

He was arrested for failure to have a valid license, excessive speed and theft in the second degree.

Local charges will be handled in Iowa and then extradition to Cleveland will begin.

The warrant says Blankenship got into a “confrontation with his mother.”  Police say during that encounter Blankenship “violently assaulted and stabbed” his mother, Chrisann Blankenship.

The incident happened Saturday evening on West 119th St.

After the homicide, investigators found the victim’s car missing. Police had concern the suspect would be going out of state.
