CLEVELAND (WJW) – Officers from the Cleveland Division of Police were taken to the hospital after an incident in the city Tuesday afternoon.

It happened just before 3 p.m. in the McDonald’s parking lot at West 56th Street and Memphis Avenue.

According to police, officers were flagged down by the McDonald’s manager about an unconscious man in a running vehicle.

When officers went over to talk to the man, police say he woke up, put the car into gear and began moving forward and then reversing.

The officers ordered the driver to stop, but investigators say he hit them with his car and drove off.

EMS tells FOX 8 that the officers, a 25-year-old male and a 25-year-old female, were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in stable condition.

Police say the driver was later arrested in the area of W. 66th Street and Denison Avenue and a third officer was injured during the course of the arrest. Investigators say firearms were recovered from the vehicle.

The incident remains under investigation.
