Shella Lowe is charged with child endangering. A bench warrant was issued for her arrest on Tuesday and her bond will be set at $10,000.
Earlier this month, a neighbor noticed the 7-year-old with the pistol near East 79th Street and Wade Park, and called police. According to the police report, the boy said the TEC-9 belonged to his mother's boyfriend and he found it inside his house.
Charges against the child were dropped.
"We found it was the mother endangering her children by leaving a weapon like that were it was easily accessible on the mantle," said Duane Deskins, Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor.
