CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Indians have announced via Twitter that they have traded Justin Masterson to the Cardinals.

In return, they’ve acquired James Ramsey.

According to a release from the Indians, Ramsey, 24, was the first round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of Florida State University.

He’s currently 6th in the Texas League in home runs.

Masterson has been a disappointment for the Indians this season. He began the year as Cleveland’s No. 1 starter but has underperformed after turning down a contract extension from the club in spring training.

On Tuesday, Masterson, who is on the disabled list, said he knew his name was in trade rumors.
