Cleveland income tax increase passes for first time in 35 years

CLEVELAND, Ohio- An income tax increase passed in Cleveland; there hasn’t been an increase in 35 years.

The passing of Issue 32 means the income tax will go from 2% to 2.5%. Results show it was very close, with 51% for it and 49% against it.

The tax is expected to provide better city services. Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said police and firefighters’ jobs, along with parks and snow removal services, were all at risk if it didn’t pass.
