Tonya James, 43, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty last month to one count of misdemeanor child endangering.  She was sentenced to 180 days in jail and given credit for the four days she already served.

James and 49-year-old Melissa A. Tate worked at the Cedar Early Learning Center until video surfaced of 2-year-old being beaten. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office said Tate hit the child 20 to 30 times, leaving welts and bruises.

James witnessed the attack, but later left the classroom. Prosecutors said she did nothing to stop the abuse.

Tate was immediately fired. She was sentenced to 36 months in prison for felony child endangering.
