CLEVELAND, Ohio — There was a VegFest in Cleveland Saturday, but it didn’t involve relaxing; it was all about the vegan lifestyle.
The first VegFest event was held at Cleveland State University. Fox 8’s Emily Valdez was on hand during the event.
There were authors, speakers and an all-day food court where people could try out different vegan food options from all over the world.
Organizers said there’s a growing number of people in Cleveland choosing to cut meat, fish and chicken out of their diets. They wanted a fun way to showcase what they say are the benefits of veganism.
“To not only animals, but to the environment, to our health and for social justice,” said Sunny Simon, of the Cleveland Vegan Society. “There are so many meaningful reasons for people to go vegan or learn about veganism. We think this is a great opportunity for people to not only learn but to have fun.”
