CLEVELAND- In less than two years, the city of Cleveland has spent more than a quarter of a million dollars to fix wrecked cruisers.

An I-Team investigation has learned that Cleveland police cruisers were involved in 151 crashes in about 18 months.

Only about a handful of crashes are due to high speed pursuits, the majority of accidents happen when other vehicles ram into the cruisers or when the cruisers hit poles, other cruisers, and other cars.

Taxpayers foot the repair bills.

In 2013 the city paid $164,000 to fix damaged cruisers, and so far this year the repair bill is $105,000, for a total of $269,000.
