LAKEWOOD, Ohio– Last-ditch efforts to stop Lakewood Hospital from closing have been shut down.

A judge ruled that Lakewood City Council can vote on plans for the hospital’s future during a meeting Monday night.

The Cleveland Clinic’s proposed plan would turn Lakewood Hospital into a 24-hour emergency clinic and family center.

Supporters of hospital argued that the city’s economy will lose $280 million, while the Clinic and council said the proposal will actually save money.
