Severe storms and heavy rain swept through Northeast Ohio this week, causing flooding and other damage.
As a result, several communities are setting up special collections and clean-ups.
—Akron: Curb customers may place damaged material on the curb strip and call 311 or 330-375-2311 to schedule a free pick-up. Residents may put wet and damaged material on the curb strip at any time of day through May 20.
—Cuyahoga Falls: Special Flood Clean-Up, May 19-23. Yard waste and trash items, including appliances and furniture picked up free of charge. No hazardous waste. For more, click here.
—North Olmsted: Republic Services will pick up curbside bulk trash Saturday, May 17, for items damaged due to heavy rain.
—Silver Lake: Saturday, May 17, Kimble Companies will pick up damaged household goods rendered unusable by the excessive rain. Place items on tree lawn.
—Stow: Commercial dumpsters provided starting at noon Thursday for one week for items damaged by flooding and unable to be picked up by private trash haulers. Dumpsters will be located in the City Hall parking lot; Stow Fire Station #2 on Hudson Drive; and Kidstation playground parking lot on Fishcreek Road.
Stow is also extending the hours of its brush drop-off site. In addition to its regular hours: 8am-3pm on weekdays and 10am-2pm during the 2nd Saturdays of each month, the brush drop-off will also be open this weekend, May 17 and May 18 all day. The drop-off site is located at 5070 Stow Road. Trees, trunks, shrubs and branches will all be accepted.
